MOTHER Nature, meet your worst nightmare.
We can only imagine what hallucination led to one of the more bizarre kiddie foods to turn up on supermarket shelves: applesauce mixed with Pop Rocks, a new offering from Mott’s.
Available in four flavors (watermelon, berry, strawberry and kiwi and the aptly named “mystery fruit”) each Pop Rocks pack turns the applesauce a corresponding color – all the while crackling like eggs on a hot sidewalk.
Amazingly, our adult testers declared the snack a winner – even if the crystals look like ground pepper before they’re stirred in and start to sizzle.
“Who knew applesauce could be so much fun?” said one.
“If I were 10 years old, I’d be the happiest kid in town right now,” said another.
Mott’s Mix-Ins contain 100 calories and 23 grams of sugar. A four-pack sells for $2.39.
