STARR REPORT
Greta makes history on FNC
Fox News Channel’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” (10-11 p.m.) earned the highest ratings in FNC history Monday night, snaring a whopping 6.3 rating and 5.1 million households.
By comparison in that timeslot, CNN’s Aaron Brown averaged 3.2 million households (3.7 rating) while MSNBC averaged 1.8 million hhs.
Celeb trio’s ‘Star’ bummer
Imagine the shock on the faces of Leonardo DiCaprio, Courteney Cox and David Arquette when their Hollywood Hills neighborhood was invaded by . . . a reality show.
US magazine reports that DiCaprio and the married Cox-Arquette duo moved to the neighborhood to avoid the media spotlight, and were shocked to learn that NBC is shooting “Next Action Star” in a rented house nearby. In that show, produced by Joel Silver, 12 contestants will compete to win a role in a TV movie to be produced by Silver.
US also reports that Carson Daly, who hosts “Last Call,” taped a special show airing April 11 in that timeslot (1:35 a.m./ Ch. 4). That particular show features variety acts and music by Robbie Williams – and, if well-received, could mean Daly will do more variety shows in prime time.
Scandal! Coming to a screen near you . . .
Viewers of ABC’s “Dragnet” have heard Joe Friday (Ed O’Neill) occasionally referring to notorious Hollywood gumshoe Freddie Otash, who worked for Confidential Magazine – the scandal rag that documented Hollywood’s seamy side in the ’50s and ’60s.
Otash died 13 years ago – but he kept very good records, and his library of true stories is now making the rounds of top New York publishers and Hollywood producers riding the recent detective programming wave and hoping to turn his stories into a TV series and, possibly, a book. Otash was one of the first people Peter Lawford called the night Marilyn Monroe died – allegedly to help get rid of incriminating evidence.
Fur sure: Lucci’s a faux of the real thing
“All My Children” star Susan Lucci ruffled some feathers (namely PETA) when she donned what appeared to be a mink coat last month on an episode of her ABC soap. PETA wrote to “AMC” costume designer Richard Schurkamp. “I’m afraid that the ‘All My Children’ fans who have been in touch with you about the wearing of fur on the show are mistaken,” Schurkamp wrote back to PETA. “I have been the costume designer [at ‘AMC’] for almost four years, and can state with certainty that the character of Erica Kane has not, during that time, worn any genuine fur.”
Last, but not least . . .
* Friends” star Jennifer Aniston, on the May cover of Harper’s Bazaar, on having a baby with hubby Brad Pitt: “When ‘Friends’ is finished. We had a window there when Rachel was pregnant on the show; it would have been great, but we were doing other things.” The issue hits newsstands 4/22.
* Lisa Marie Presley visits tonight’s “Late Show” (Ch. 2).
* Tonight on YES (10:30): “Clemens: The Quest for 300,” a look at Roger Clemens’ pursuit of his 300th victory.
* Congrats to CNBC’s Ron Insana and wife Melinda on the birth of Anna Patricia, who arrived Monday.
