Sean Kimmerling, Ch. 11’s weekend sports anchor, died yesterday several weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. He was 37.
Kimmerling joined Ch. 11 as the weekend sports anchor in December 1997 and won a local Emmy Award in 2002 for his coverage of the Mets.
“Everyone is shocked and devastated by the loss,” said a station spokesman. “He was very well-liked and popular.” Kimmerling, who was single, was a Westchester native. He lived in Croton-on-Hudson.

“Inside Edition” is reporting that the Four Seasons Hotel in Santa Barbara, Calif., is helping prepare gift baskets for the (supposed) wedding of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.
“IE” reports the baskets will contain cell phones and the Jelly Kelly handbag – reportedly bought by J.Lo at Intuition in L.A. The Four Seasons is designing cards reading “Congratulations Jennifer and Ben September 2003,” according to “IE.”

ZOCALO MAVENS say East of Eighth restaurant has removed the front- of-eatery photo of “The Restaurant” waiter Topher Goodman – now that the NBC show on which he appeared has completed its run (it begins its Bravo run Sept. 16).
Goodman quit Rocco DiSpirito’s restaurant during the series and returned to East of Eighth.

Ch. 11’s Marvin Scott got the jump on his competition regarding the Coast Guard’s new anti-terrorism assault team. His piece, which aired last night at 10, was supposed to air tomorrow to mark Sept. 11 – but was moved up when the Coast Guard issued a press release “betraying” him, Scott says, adding that “There apparently was an internal rivalry between public affairs officers.”
