Star treatment on E!

Emmy ratings for E! were solid on Sunday as Star Jones made her debut as the network’s doyenne of red- carpet coverage, replacing Joan Rivers.

The num bers for “Live on the Red Carpet” were al most iden tical to last year, according to early in dications – and that just might have earned Jones a permanent gig.

“We thought she did a fan tastic job,” said an E! spokes woman – who wouldn’t comment further on the pos sibility of Jones returning.

It’s a big week for “Live with Regis & Kelly”: Presidential candidate John Kerry and Tiger Woods drop by this morning (9 a.m./Ch. 7). And the “Relly Awards” (best show moments from the past year) unfold on Friday – as the world waits, breathless with anticipation.

“We’ve had a lot of presi dential candidates on over the years,” says “Live” execu tive producer Michael Gel man, referring to Kerry. “We’re trying for President Bush, and we’re told there’s a good chance we’ll get him.”

Gelman also promises some “other major event” on Fri day’s Rellys (Kelly Ripa was bopped on the head last year).

Last, but not least:

* Tonight (9 p.m./Ch. 9): “Amish in the City” finale.

* Good numbers for the first week of “The Tony Danza Show” here in NYC (10 a.m./Ch. 7): a timeslot- winning 3.4 (252,000 hhs).

* Michael J. Fox tells Pat O’Brien on tonight’s “The In sider” that he’s hitting the campaign trail with John Kerry to talk up stem cell research.

* Today: David Evangelista joins “Life & Style” as a regular contributor (9 a.m./ Ch. 55).

* Tonight on “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” (8 p.m./MSNBC): A Wookie-to- English translator to com memorate the DVD release of “Star Wars.” We kid you not.

* Whitney Houston to “Access Hollywood”: “I love Tony Bennett. I would love to do something with [Ben nett]. I love Tony Bennett a lot.” How do you really feel?

* Hey, Lenny Bruce fans: There’s a new six-DVD set, “Let The Buyer Beware,” available from Shout! Factory. Shoutfactory.com has details.

* So how cool was it that “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon thanked HBO’s Angela Tarantino in her Emmy acceptance speech Sunday? Angela rocks.
