STYLE & SUBSTANCE: T-BOZ
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins went to beauty school and worked at a McDonald’s before teaming up in 1991 with Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas to form the successful trio TLC.
And though T-Boz – the T in TLC – has sickle-cell anemia, the Iowa native, now living in Atlanta, has never let it slow her down. In fact, with her all-girl rap group, she’s topped the charts several times with songs like “Waterfalls,” “Creep” and the recently released “Scrubs.”
The 29-year-old T-Boz has also just published a book of poems titled, “Thoughts,” been in a few films, including “House Party 3,” and is developing both a children’s cartoon and a feature film. She even has her own clothing line, Grungy Glamorous. Remarkably, she still makes time to be a spokesperson for the Sickle Cell Disease Association.
