Hit TV shows are increasingly influencing what names US parents choose for their children in what researchers are attributing to “The ‘Glee’ Effect” and ” ‘Mad Men’ Madness,” according to the top baby names revealed yesterday.

While Aiden was the No. 1 name choice for boys, the sixth year in a row, and Sophia took the top spot for girls’ names from Isabella, names of celebrities and TV characters are skyrocketing, according to the Top 100 Baby Names for 2010 compiled by BabyCenter.

Glee” characters Quinn and Finn and Betty from “Mad Men” have yet to crack the Top 100 but are the fastest rising names in terms of popularity.

The names of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s three daughters, Bristol, Willow and Piper, are also fast-rising favorites. The names of Palin’s two sons, Track and Trig, are not.
