ABSTRACT:

Actors Equity is under fire for restricting the free exchange of British and American stage actors.

A report put out yesterday by the British Council – England’s equivalent of the National Endowment for the Arts – blasts Equity for “complex and restrictive policies” designed to prevent British performers from working in the United States.

Equity, the council says, “is unquestionably operating in restraint of trade between the two countries.”
