We spend a lot of our time in crowds, but most New Yorkers go home alone. Based on Census reports and other city data, Manhattan’s percentage of single people is higher than any other city’s in the nation. Here are a few other stats:

* Average age of a first marriage for women in the US: 25.6

* Average age of a first marriage for men in the US: 27.7

* Average age for a first marriage for men and women in NYC: 30 to 34

* Percentage of the Manhattan population that lives alone: a little more than 50 percent

* Percentage of the Manhattan population that has never married: 50 percent

So keep in mind that if you’re sans partner, you’re in the majority. That means your dating pool is bigger than you probably thought!
