MOST paparazzi catch celebrities on their way to the Starbucks, hanging out in Cancun, or driving around with a baby on their lap.
But somehow Matthew McConaughey always gets caught the same way – shirtless, sweaty and working out. And, as of late, he’s been working on his perfect body with his famous friends Lance and Jake.
“Brokeback” jokes aside, is it possible to get a banging body by flexing for the photographers?
Alex Rwambuya, fitness manager and private trainer at The Sports Club/LA at Rockefeller Center, says yes. “He’s definitely in great shape. He looks like the type of person who works out every day, and he’s having fun while he’s doing it,” Rwambuya says.
You may not work out with Lance, but you can try this McConaughey Workout to get in shape:
—
1. Running
“Running is one of the best exercises; it’s cheap and all you need is a pair of sneakers,” Rwambuya says. He recommends running 30 minutes or more a day at least 3-4 times a week. And, try to find yourself a Lance. “It’s always better to run with someone who’s a better runner than you. When you run with someone else, you’ll run further and maintain your pace better.”
2. Dips
“You can do this at home, in a park, anywhere you have a flat surface,” Rwambuya says. “The target muscles here are the triceps and shoulders.” He suggests beginners do 3 sets of 10 dips. “Matthew probably does 5 sets of 20.”
3. Push-ups
“Basically, if you want to get a nice upper body, nice strong shoulders and a muscular chest, you have do push-ups,” he says. “But, just looking at the muscles in his body, it’s obvious he lifts weights too.” Workout novices should start with 3 sets of 10 and work up to 5 sets of 20.
4. Yoga
Rwambuya says the beach is a perfect place for a workout. “Here he’s doing upward dog, a yoga pose,” he says. “It’s contracting his lower back and stretching his abs. It’s great as a cool down and great before you work out.”
