Da Vinci codes
The only clue “Lost” producers have released is this shot of the cast posed as Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” (though Locke has 13 disciples, not 12).
The most obvious reference is that Locke, like Jesus, was resurrected — although as someone else. Will the real Locke be resurrected as well?
Jeff Jensen, who chronicles “Lost” for Entertainment Weekly, notes that Jack’s in the appropriate Doubting Thomas spot; Sayid is at the Judas spot, but will he betray or be a savior?
What’s interesting is our clutch to the far left, of Richard, Ilana and Claire. What’s Ilana’s connection to the island? Claire, meanwhile, is dead or something, based on the way Miles looks at her.
Overall, the photo hints at the Biblical allegory of Jacob and the man in black. In the Torah, Jacob and Esau were the twin sons of Isaac. Esau sells his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of soup. Later, Jacob tricks him out of Isaac’s blessing. The two oppose each other their entire lives. Jacob becomes one of the patriarchs of the Jewish people; Esau’s followers are called the Edomites. Is “Lost” playing out this ancient battle of brothers and cultures?
