Lee DeWyze, who won “American Idol” last year, has fired back at the show’s executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe.

DeWyze says he refused to present the winner’s trophy to Scotty McCreery last Wednesday night because Lythgoe asked him to do so only at the last minute.

“I was not asked to be involved in the Finale,” DeWyze tweeted. “It wasn’t until about 2 minutes before they announced that Nigel approached me and asked if he could ‘borrow’ me for a second. I didn’t feel a last-second jump on stage was appropriate.”

“True, he wasn’t asked to sing but Lee knows he was asked to present the trophy a week before,” Lythgoe tweeted yesterday.
