Dick Clark was recovering from prostate surgery, performed the day before he died of a heart attack, according to the death certificate released yesterday.

The TV star checked in to St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica for the surgery last Tuesday, according to reports.

“He had very minor prostate surgery,” Clark’s good friend, Congressman David Dreier, told the entertainment news show “Extra.”

“All of a sudden, he got a feeling in his arm about 9:30 [last Wednesday] morning, and he was gone by 11:15.

“ It turned out to be a massive heart attack.”

Clark’s remains were cremated bv family over the weekend.

There was no formal funeral in the works and plans for a memorial service were still not finalized yesterday, a spokesperson said.
