Bodies at the beach
If you ever needed a reason not to go to Long Island, this is it: There’s a serial killer on the loose. In May 2010, a 24-year-old prostitute, Shannan Gilbert, vanished into thin air. Seven months later, police found the remains of a woman’s body along a desolate beach road. Nine more bodies showed up. Four were sex workers, and they were all wrapped in burlap. “The Long Island Serial Killer” documents the search for Gilbert’s body. Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer speaks about the investigation, as do relatives of the murder victims.
