ABSTRACT:

Fran Drescher is pulling the plug on “The Nanny,” her once-powerful CBS sitcom that spawned a fashion frenzy and rocketed Drescher to international stardom.

Drescher told last night’s “Entertainment Tonight” that she’s retiring “The Nanny” – which has lost millions of viewers – after the end of this season, the show’s sixth.

Drescher then went straight from her “ET” interview to break the news to her cast.

Last year the show was ranked 50th, but this year has sunk to 71st – with an average of 9.3 million viewers on CBS’ Wednesday-night lineup.
