THANKS to good press and word-of mouth, rapper Eminem‘s three-week-old disc, “The Eminem Show,” continues its white-knuckled grip on the No. 1 slot on the top 200 album sales charts for the fourth week, selling just under 3 million copies to date.

Alt-metal band Korn could have snatched the spot away from the Detroit badboy with its “Untouchables” album, but the record was kept under wraps for security reasons prior to release and wasn’t reviewed by many newspapers and periodicals. In its first week out, it sold 434,000 copies.

Arista recording artist Avril Lavigne made Soundscan history today as “Let Go” – propelled by its first single, “Complicated” – joined the elite club of artists whose debut album posted a rare second-week gain in sales. It sold 69,889 units and moved to No. 10 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
