HERE’S a first look at the “West Wing” funeral for former Chief of Staff Leo McGarry, that is just a bit too much like real life.

John Spencer, the actor who played McGarry on the show died suddenly last winter and the TV funeral for his character was filmed in February, about eight weeks after Spencer’s death.

At the time, the actors appearing on the show said participating in the fictional funeral so soon after the real one was “surreal.”

The episode in which McGarry’s “West Wing” collegues say their last goodbyes to him, airs on on April 16.

On the show, McGarry suffered from a heart condition that had sidelined him in the past from his White House duties. In real life, Spencer died from a heart attack.
