NBC’s first regular-season NFL telecast in eight years scored a touchdown Thursday night.
Pittsburgh’s 28-17 victory over Miami averaged 19.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched Thursday night season opener ever.
That’s 200,000 viewers more than watched the Jets-Redskins Thursday night opener in 2003.
It’s also a jump from last year, when the Indianapolis-New England matchup snared 18 million viewers on ABC, according to Nielsen.
The reigning Super Bowl champ Steelers were led by Charlie Batch, subbing for injured starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
