Britain’s ITV has renewed “Downton Abbey” for a fourth season — good news for fans of the show, which airs here on PBS.

The news broke yesterday, three weeks after “Abbey” aired its third-season finale on ITV1. The third season, which features Shirley MacLaine, premieres on PBS in January.

The fourth season will start filming in February and is scheduled to air next fall, according to reports.
