FOX News Channel said yesterday it is probing the arrest of anchor Shepard Smith, accused of hitting a reporter with his car in a dispute over a parking space in Tallahassee, Fla.

Smith, who hosts the “Fox Report,” was arrested last Friday and charged with aggravated battery with a motor vehicle. He was released on $10,000 bail.

Freelance journalist Maureen Walsh told police she was trying to hold a parking spot for a friend in a lot across from the state Capitol building when Smith drove up.

The 36-year-old anchor allegedly told her to move and then ran into Walsh, who was treated for bruises on her legs.

A Fox News spokesman said: “Shepard Smith was arrested for aggravated battery in Leon County. We’re still collecting the relevant facts of the case.”

Smith, who remained in Tallahassee to cover the election deadlock, could not be reached for comment.
