Co-hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway failed to lift ratings for the 83rd annual Academy Awards, according to early data available Monday.
The ceremony, which crowned “The King’s Speech” Best Picture, earned a 24.6 household rating, compared to a 26.5 rating one year earlier, Deadline reported. The figures mean that 24.6 percent of television in the US were tuned into the show.
It still did better than 2008, the lowest-watched show in history.
Detailed ratings, with exact viewership counts, are expected to be available later Monday.
