SITCOM director James Burrows is suing Warner Bros. for $5 million – claiming they promised him a piece of “Friends” in exchange for directing the pilot in 1994.

Burrows said Warner Bros. reneged on an agreemeent to pay him 5 percent of the net profits for “Friends,” according to a report in Inside.com.

In his lawsuit, filed last week in Santa Monica Superior Court, Burrows alleges that Warner Bros. also agreed to pay him distribution fees in exchange for his directing services.

Burrows got his chops directing such classic sitcoms as “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Taxi” and “Cheers.”

Warner Bros. had no comment on the Burrows lawsuit.
