“Hacks” star Hannah Einbinder is under fire for turning her Emmy acceptance speech into a crude, political soapbox in which she said, “F—k ICE and free Palestine.”
The actress’ controversial remarks went viral after she won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the hit HBO show during Sunday night’s live ceremony.

The comments drew immediate pushback on social media.
“Any Jewish actress who uses her 15 minutes of fame to show support for the terrorists holding 48 hostages in Gaza has no moral compass,” wrote Joel Petlin.
“And the naive Hollywood audience that applauded her immoral statement is equally reprehensible. Hannah Einbinder was a real loser at the Emmys,” he added.

She later said she felt the need to speak out publicly to “distinguish Jews from the state of Israel.”

Getty Images“I feel like it is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the State of Israel, because our religion and our culture is such an important and long standing institution that is really separate to this sort of ethno-nationalist state,” she said, according to The Wrap.
Einbinder added that she felt it was “important to talk about Palestine, because it’s an issue that’s very dear to my heart.”
“This is why Ricky Gervais had to lecture celebs on how to accept awards,” Jewish journalist Dahlia Kurtz posted on X, referring to Gervais now-notorious hosting speech in which he told celebs they were in no position to lecture the public.

Sunday’s victory was Einbinder’s fourth nomination for her performance as Ava Daniels, a struggling young comedy writer, in all four seasons of “Hacks.”
