HBO’s new cable news drama by “West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin will be called “Newsroom,” according to reports yesterday.
The series will follow the antics of the “News Night” staff at a fictional cable news network called UBS.
Jeff Daniels will star in the show as the news anchor and Emily Mortimer will serve as his executive producer.
“Law & Order” veteran Sam Waterston will appear as the network’s president.
“Together they set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal entanglements,” according to a description from HBO.
