BAWDY BOSS: Proving that his engines haven’t cooled just yet, Bruce Springsteen introduced his wife, vocalist Patty Scialfa, to Madison Square Garden as “natural viagra,” then said drummer Max Weinberg was the result of a “menage a trois between Keith Moon, Buddy Rich and Ed McMann.”
SUMMER OF LOVE: As soon Arthur Lee and Love opened his comeback show at the Bowery Ballroom with “My Little Red Book, a 1967 hit, fans of the L.A. rocker sensed he was in top form. Sprung from a six-year jail term last year, Lee threw his voice all over the place, imitating horns, softly crooning and rocking out, vocally and on guitar. That didn’t hinder the band’s fierce high-energy performance, however, and Casablancas’ sweetly gruff vocals fired up the hallowed hall.
