A film featuring “The Simpsons” could hit the silver screen as soon as summer 2006, one of the show’s producer/writers says.

“They’ve wanted to do this since season two,” Mike Reiss told the Web site DVD Fanatic. A studio source said that Fox has not greenlighted the film yet, nor have execs seen a script. But “The Simpsons” movie is a project that they’ve “always hoped to make,” the source said.
