‘Pirate’ booty

A McDonald’s Happy Meal hasn’t appealed to us in years, but shiver our timbers if the new “Pirates of the Caribbean” toys aren’t worth the $3.40. Plus, you get fries.

Cosmos

Women, cocktails, Pelé and the 1970s – the makings of an awesome sports movie, complete with jaunts to Studio 54. Check out “Once in a Lifetime: The Extraordinary Story of the New York Cosmos.”

Balls

When Zidane got tossed for that vicious headbutt, we thought he was a jerk. But then all the lip-reading started, and we can’t decide whose side we’re on. Was he defending family and faith? Or was it just a temper tantrum?

Teenage wasteland

Avril Lavigne’s latest attempt to ditch her “Sk8er Boi” past has her playing a bad-ass teen druggie in Butch Walker’s video for “Bethamphetine.” Her self-done hair and makeup job is so much better than Brit’s.

Two-minute breaks

Finally, an excuse to watch “The Office” at the office.NBC.com is hosting new Webisodes of the faux-hidden-camera show every Thursday through Sept. 7. We’re on the edge of our Aeron chairs over this expense-account whodunit.

Wright’s stuff

David Wright is the new Derek Jeter. And, like every other girl in the city, we’re crushing hard on the hot, single and sweet Mets third baseman. Fingers crossed he wins tonight against the Cubs in Chicago.

Speculating on speculation

Are *NSYNC-er Lance Bass and “Amazing Race” star Reichen Lehmkuhl trying to throw gossip columns for a loop, or is trouble really brewing in their maybe-baby relationship? The latest reports indicate that they’ve been seen macking on other guys in P-town.

Boys’ best friends

First we saw Jake and Lance riding bikes together, wearing spandex. Then we saw Matthew and Lance jogging together, shirtless. Then we saw an image of three of them, all smiles, at the ESPYs. Our hearts are melting.

Nice nails

Already spotted on Lindsay Lohan, Chanel is rolling out a new $18 bottle of “Black Satin” nail polish. As if punk rockers didn’t have enough reason to be angry these days.

Cake couture

Forget alligators and preppy athletes on horses – the hot logo is baked goods. Check out the sweet styles (all emblazoned with desserts) from T-shirt designer Johnny Cupcakes at johnnycupcakes.com. But do it fast; his stuff usually sells out.
