‘AMERICAN Idol” has canceled auditions that had been scheduled for Monday in Memphis, Tenn., in the wake of hurricane Katrina’s destruction.

Memphis is among several cities that have taken on the responsibility of housing tens of thousands of refugees from the devastating storm that leveled New Orleans and other population centers around the region this week.
