CAN 16 million Americans (that’s how many of us practice yoga in one form or another) be wrong?

Filmmaker Kate Churchill thinks not, and she seeks to prove it in her breezy documentary “Enlighten Up!”

Convinced that yoga can transform anybody, she entices Nick Rosen, a 29-year-old out-of-work journalist, to travel the world — from New York to Los Angeles to India to Hawaii — investigating yoga’s many forms and practitioners.

Rosen twists himself into a human pretzel and hangs with celebrity yogis and just plain folks. The results aren’t what Churchill had hoped for.

Yoga devotees will love Churchill’s film. Others will come away convinced that the world of yoga is full of charlatans.

Running time: 82 minutes. Not rated (nothing to worry about). At the IFC Center, Sixth Avenue and Third Street.
