LOS ANGELES — Broadway actress Kristin Chenoweth and country music star Trace Adkins will team up to host the “American Country Awards,” FOX Broadcasting announced Friday.

Adkins, 49, hosted the inaugural award show solo last year but Chenoweth will join him as co-host for the December 5 ceremony in Las Vegas.

The 43-year-old actress, known for her Broadway role in “Wicked” and her TV stints on “The West Wing” and “Glee,” will be appearing on the new ABC series “Good Christian Belles,” which is set to debut in 2012.

The “American Country Awards” are chosen solely by fans, and recipients will receive custom-made Fender guitars instead of trophies.

At the 2010 event, “American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood took home the top honors with six awards while country trio Lady Antebellum proved to be a fan favorite as they won four prizes.
