Jay Leno is back.

Since returning as host of “The Tonight Show” March 1, Leno has reclaimed his familiar position as TV’s top-rated late-night host — with David Letterman’s “Late Show” once again relegated to second place.

For the week ending April 9, Leno outdrew Letterman in both total viewers and adults 18-49 (with the caveat that the Monday, Thursday and Friday “Late Shows” that week were delayed by CBS sports coverage and were not included in the weekly averages).

Leno averaged 4.2 million viewers to Letterman’s 3.7 million viewers.

ABC’s “Nightline” also averaged 3.7 million viewers.
