Was outgoing California First Lady Maria Shriver hinting at a return to TV this morning on the “Today” show?

Shriver, the former NBC anchor/correspondent, left the network six-and-a-half years ago after her husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger, was elected Governor of California. She cited concerns NBC had over a possible conflict of interest that could arise between her role as a TV journalist and being the First Lady of California.

Now that Ah-nuld is leaving office — with Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown battling to replace him — Shriver will be free to pursue other opportunities, perhaps even a return to broadcasting.

On this morning’s “Today” show, during an interview to promote the California Women’s Conference, Shriver was asked by co-host Matt Lauer how she might spend her time once her husband leaves office.

“I hope with you, Matt,” she said, laughing.
