MARKT FOR GLORY
The Bar Belles aren’t picky it comes to what we drink from.
Lo-ball glasses, champagne flutes, empty Mason jars, an old pair of pink Converse All-Star sneakers – hell, we’d take a swig out of any of ’em.
Therefore, we can’t help but marvel at how obsessed the folks over at the Meatpacking District’s local Belgian joint Markt are about serving the “right” beer in the “right” glass. (Apparently, les Belges drinkers believe that the maximum flavor of a brew comes out only when it’s served in the appropriate vessel.)
But what do we care? Let them worry about how well our draft of Stella Artois can “breathe” in its tall, slim glass.
We’d rather expend all our brainpower deciding which of Markt’s 34 different kinds of Belgian beers we want to get served up at their long, thick oak bar.
Markt, 401 W. 14th St., at Ninth Avenue, (212) 727-3314.
