As part of the Jazzitaliano Festival in New York, almost three dozen of Italy’s finest jazz artists will perform over six nights, beginning Tuesday and running through next weekend. Eight stellar bands will fire up seven clubs, including Italy’s numero uno jazz drummer, Roberto Gatto, and his quintet, which performs Tuesday through March 4 at Sweet Rhythm (88 Seventh Ave. South; [212] 255-3626). Sax player Rosario Giuliani (pictured) will lead with his smokin’ quintet March 4-6 at, where else, Smoke (2751 Broadway; [212] 864-6662). And Tuesday through Thursday, trumpetman Fabio Morgera’s quintet will crowd into the Zinc Bar (90 W. Houston St.; [212] 477-8337).
