Stars have been burning up the red carpets for an international whirlwind of movie premieres.

Last Monday, Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones tripped the lights in London for the “Chicago” debut – then hopped a plane for the film’s Stateside splash in L.A. the following night. Thank goodness for that eight-hour time difference!

On Wednesday, Brad Pitt and Drew Barrymore were toasting the Chuck Barry biopic, “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” in Los Angeles – while “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” was being feted in London by the likes of Mick Jagger and Cate Blanchett.

Here in New York City, the Ziegfeld Theatre was hopping – with “Maid in Manhattan” on Sunday, “Gangs of New York” on Monday and “Two Weeks Notice” on Thursday.

Whew. Give those celebrity stylists a well-earned rest!

All this movie magic puts us in the mood to hand out some trophies, so why wait for the Oscars? Here, The Post’s Red Carpet Awards.

Most Improved Award: Renee Zellweger

She’s a singer, dancer and now quick-change artist. After an exhausting flight from London to Los Angeles on Tuesday for back-to-back premieres, the actress went from grungy (baggy sweater) to glam (black Valentino) in a matter of hours.

Best Case for Overexposure Award: Jennifer Lopez

J. Lo’s celebrity has reached a Madonna-level saturation point, but you’ve got to admit she cuts one hell of a silhouette – here, in a blush Vera Wang gown and snow-white mink (a pressie from Ben), at “Maid in Manhattan.”

Separated in Sydney Award: Cate Blanchett & Nicole Kidman

Aussie actresses Blanchett and Kidman were in different countries – Cate at “Lord of the Rings” in London, Nicole at “Gangs of New York” here, but there was clearly synergy working between them. Note the similar shift-dress-and-matching-coat outfits, the boots and especially the pose. Spooky.

“If It’s Tuesday, It Must Be Paris” Award: Liv Tyler

Liv’s been spanning the globe to promote “Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” in grand style, natch.

In New York, the renowned fashion plate showed up in a silk polka-dot halter dress. A few days later in London, she wore a black suit with a sexy satin wrap jacket. Finally, in Paris, Liv pulled out the stops in an unforgettable frothy pink gown custom-made by Alexander McQueen.

The Peacock Awards: Cameron Diaz and David Bowie
