BUBBLY British chef Ainsley Harriott has been canned by NBC.

His self-titled “Ainsley Harriott Show,” which mixed up cooking with celebrity interviews, will not be coming back next year.

The show, which airs at 10 a.m. on WNBC/Ch. 4, is expected to stay on the air through September, according to Variety.

A spokeswoman at the show’s Disney-owned Buena Vista Television said both the studio and NBC jointly decided to not renew “Harriott.” Sources noted that the move was made due to the show’s low ratings.

Since it debuted last January, “Harriott” has averaged a paltry 900,000 households nationwide season-to-date, according to Nielsen numbers.

Production on “Harriott” will not stop until later this summer while new episodes and repeats are planned to air through September.

For next fall, sources say Ch. 4 officials are anticipating that the station – along with other NBC-owned stations – will fill the valuable 10 a.m. slot with a new relationship/talk show called “Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus.”

The new show, produced by Merv Griffin, is based on the smash-hit relationship book by author John Gray and is reportedly similar to the panel format seen on ABC’s “Politically Incorrect.”

During the show, six panelists will discuss various issues and topics from the perspectives of males and females.

“Mars” is expected to be hosted by former CBS News entertainment reporter Eleanor Mondale, the 40-year-old daughter of former Vice President Walter Mondale.

An NBC spokesperson said it is still too early to determine how the stations will fill the “Harriott” time slot, but network sources say “it would make sense” that “Mars” will replace “Harriot” on Ch. 4.
