LOOKS like off-Broadway’s hit “Take Me Out” is heading out – to Broadway.

Although the Public Theater – where Richard Greenberg’s play opened Sept. 5 after a brief, triumphant run at London’s Donmar Warehouse – has yet to confirm Variety’s report, the playwright told The Post it’s likely “Take Me Out” will follow “Proof” into the Walter Kerr Theatre.

“That’s what they tell me,” Greenberg said. “But I’ll believe it only on opening night. In the second act.”

Carole Shorenstein Hays, who helped bring another Public production, Suzan-Lori Parks’ “Topdog/Underdog” to Broadway last season, holds the commercial option on “Take Me Out.”

The San Francisco-based producer is also behind “Proof,” which played to only 40 percent capacity last week after nearly two years on Broadway.

“Take Me Out” – about a major league ballplayer who discloses he’s gay – features a cast of 11 and several nude scenes, set in the play’s locker room.

Since its opening, it’s been selling out the Public’s 299-seat Anspacher Theater every night.

“Even I haven’t been able to get tickets,” says Greenberg.

“It’s the coolest thing, really.”
