POEHLER BEARS SO-SO RATINGS
NBC’s “Southland” is showing some legs.
But “Parks and Recreation“? Meh — not so much.
“Southland,” the new LA cop show from “ER” executive producer John Wells, averaged 9.6 million viewers Thursday night to win its 10 p.m. timeslot — beating fellow newcomer “Harper’s Island” in their second head-to-head meeting in both total viewers and adults 18-49.
“Southland,” starring Benjamin McKenzie, also retained virtually all of its adult 18-49 numbers from its April 9 premiere — always a good sign, especially since numbers usually drop across-the-board with a show’s second episode.
Amy Poehler’s “Parks and Recreation,” meanwhile, managed only 5.9 million viewers at 8:30 Thursday night, finishing third in its timeslot in viewers and adults 18-49.
On the plus side, “Parks” picked up 600,000 viewers from its lead-in, “My Name Is Earl.” An episode of “The Office,” which followed “Parks” at 9 p.m., attracted over 2 million more viewers and also dramatically increased its adults 18-49 audience.
Over on ABC, “In the Motherhood” (Cheryl Hines) continues to struggle, eking out 4.7 million viewers at 8 p.m. — and would have finished dead last in adults 18-49 if not for a repeat of The CW’s “Smallville.”
