Movie studio Lionsgate has hired a screenwriter to adapt “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” the bestselling guide to pregnancy for women, into a romantic comedy film, Deadline.com reported Tuesday.

Shauna Cross, who wrote Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut “Whip It,” will adapt the nonfiction “What to Expect,” by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel, into a fictional film in the vein of “Love Actually” that will follow five expecting couples.

“What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” currently in its fourth edition, was first published in 1984 and has sold more than 20 million copies. In 2007, USA Today put it at No. 19 on its list of the 25 most influential books of the past 25 years.
