The coronavirus pandemic has not cooled the fevers of avid theatre-goers, despite the fact that Broadway is closed through June.

The virtual opening of the musical “Pride and Prejudice” drew 160,000 views when it was streamed on Friday free of charge from the Palo Alto’s TheatreWorks in Silicon Valley.

The show had run at the theater from Dec. 4 to Jan. 4.

The performance was hosted by actresses Beth Level from “The Drowsy Chaperone” and Laura Osnes of “Cinderella.”

Viewers from 14 different countries — including the United States, Italy, Singapore, Australia, Germany and England — tuned in to the performance, which included interviews with members of the creative team.

The two-year-old platform that streamed the performance, Streaming Musicals, plans to keep releasing new work throughout the course of the coronavirus pandemic.

Their next planned stream is “Marry Harry, which premiered off-Broadway at the York Theatre company.
