Once having worked with the great Terrence Malick, there’s only one way for an actor’s career to go: down.

Q’orianka Kilcher portrayed Pocahontas in Malick’s masterful 2005 historical epic “The New World.” Her follow-up is the disappointing “Princess Kaiulani,” directed by first-timer Marc Forby.

Kilcher has the title role, as a real-life Hawaiian royal in the 1880s who was exiled at age 13 when a coup overthrew the monarchy.

The landscapes are exotic and Kilcher is erotic, but the film plays like a generic made-for-TV biopic. Better luck next time, Ms. Kilcher.
