EASTER PARADE (1948)
Sunday, 10 a.m., TCM
You’d have to be a serial sad-sack to not enjoy this engaging, frothy Easter Sunday standby with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire knocking out and tapping out Irving Berlin tunes. It’s about a dancer who tries to make
a dancer out of a singer.
THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985)
Monday, 8 p.m., AMC
Probably the best, funniest, most endearing portrait of ’80’s teen angst as a bunch of mismatched kids interact during detention. Starring Brat Packers Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, and Molly Ringwald, and one grown-up, Paul Gleason, who is just perfect as Principal Vernon.
CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS (1989)
Thursday, 10 a.m., Cinemax
Several stories brilliantly interconnect as a nebbishy filmmaker (Woody Allen), makes a documentary about his gasbag TV star brother-in-law, (Alan Alda), while another upstanding relative (Martin Landau) plots to have his his mistress (Anjelica Huston) killed by his mobconnected brother (Jerry Orbach).
SONS OF THE DESERT (1934)
friday, 9:15 p.m. TCM
Hilarious, old classic about two men (Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy) who want to go to a lodge convention, but instead tell their wives that they are going on a medicinal cruise because one of them is dying. Yes, they get caught lying.
