Payne management

The second episode of “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” went through the roof Wednesday night on TBS, setting a basic-cable sitcom record for viewers (6 million) and households (3.6 million) and in ratings for adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. The 9 p.m. premiere of the show, which stars Allen Payne, LaVan Davis and Cassi Davis, averaged 5.2 million viewers.

Over on sister station TNT, meanwhile, Barry Corbin will guest-star as Brenda’s (Kyra Sedgwick) dad on four episodes of “The Closer” beginning in August. The new season premieres June 18.
