Glick fixed: Garland sends Jiminy a letter

Never let it be said that Beverly Garland has no sense of humor.

Garland, who starred on “My Three Sons,” now owns Beverly Garland’s Holiday Inn, located in North Hollywood. Comedy Centeral host Jiminy Glick (Martin Short) referred to Garland’s hotel on a recent “Jiminy Glick,” saying he’d once been kicked out of the place.

Garland, in turn, sent a letter to Jiminy saying that, “I want you to know that not a day has gone by in the last 22 years that I have not kicked myself for kicking your great morning show out of my hotel.

“Did I really yell at you? People say I can be loud. I’m sorry. But I had not slept all night because ‘My Three Sons’ had just eliminated my budget for hair and makeup – and added it to Fred’s [MacMurray].”

‘7th Heaven’ gets Ernest in special episode

Since this is Oscar week, it’s interesting to note that Oscar winner Ernest Borgnine (“Marty,” 1955) is guest-starring on an upcoming episode of The WB’s “7th Heaven.”

In the episode, “The Known Soldier” (May 6), Borgnine plays Joe, a homeless man who cuts Robbie Camden (Adam LaVorgna) off on the freeway. Robbie notices that Joe’s car is adorned with tattered American flags – and gives Joe a free flag in honor of a U.S. Marine who’s been killed in Afghanistan. Joe tells Robbie that he’s a veteran himself, and Robbie thanks Joe for fighting for his country – tugging at the elderly man’s heartstrings.

Spiked: Smith’s ‘vision’ did me in: Lee

Spike Lee says he wanted to direct “Ali,” starring Will Smith – but that Smith didn’t want Lee attached to the project, which eventually copped Smith an Oscar nomination.

“I wanted to do it. Will didn’t want me to direct it,” Lee told “BET Tonight” host Ed Gordon.

“Columbia/Sony had a list and Will had a list [of possible directors],” Lee said. “I met with Will and his manager . . . The first thing Will said was, ‘So, Spike, how can you expand your vision?’ When he asked that, I knew I was out.”
