Starr report
Not only does John Langley have a “Cops” racing team named after his Fox show — and a line of wines produced in Argentina — but he’s also a producer on “Brooklyn’s Finest,” which premiered in Manhattan last night and opens in theaters nationwide on Friday. The flick stars Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke and Wesley Snipes as Brooklyn cops dealing with on-the- job pressures, and is directed by Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day”).
“It’s a very tough cop drama which demonstrates the effects that police work has on the cops themselves,” says Langley. “It’s really about the price of being a cop . . . where you can get killed any day on the job.”
Langley says the movie har kens back to those gritty, Sidney Lumet-type cop dramas (“Serpico”) from the ’70s.
“The cop drama is a staple of filmdom, and always will be,” he says. “It’s a certain subject that’s inherently more dramatic than others.”
More: Mike Vogel, who co-stars in Jerry Bruckheimer‘s new CBS medical drama, “Miami Medical” — premiering April 2 — has a supporting role in the comedy “She’s Out of My League,” in the aters March 12.
