True crime fans — and there are lots of ’em — might not be aware of Crimesider, an online adjunct to CBS’ ” 48 Hours Mystery” brand that’s been around for two years now. The site, crimesider.com, averages 2.7 million unique viewers each month, so we know they’re doing something right in their coverage of exclusive 911 calls, police interrogations and expert forensics (among other elements).
The site is the brainchild of CBS News executive producer Susan Zirinsky, who’s busy these days planning the network’s coverage for the April 29th Royal Wedding (anchored by Katie Couric).
“Two years ago we saw a void in the true crime genre online,” Zirinsky says. “We have filled that void with smart reporting, aggressive coverage and fascinating content of a subject that has become an obsession in this country.”
