Hampton’s in

“7th Heaven” creator/ executive producer Brenda Hampton didn’t want any publicity about this – but she’s gonna get it nonetheless. That’s because Hampton, out of the goodness of her heart, has underwritten a holiday party for the New York City High School for Leadership & Public Service (HSL&PS) – otherwise known as the “Ground Zero School” because of its proximity to where the Twin Towers once stood. The school was shut down for five months following Sept. 11.

Hampton also threw a holiday party for the school in December ’01. “I heard about the school, the wonderful work that [principal Ada Rosario Dolch] and the faculty have done and I also knew how hard they were hit after 9/11,” says Hampton. “I thought the least I could do was . . . help them to try and rebuild the school and their lives.”

Hampton will attend this year’s party on Friday, Dec. 12 at HSL&PS.

Veteran DJ Pat St. John has joined Q-104 for a Saturday shift (6-10 a.m.) and will also do fill-in work. St. John has worked at WPLJ (with current Q-104 morning man Jim Kerr), WNEW-FM and, most recently, at WCBS-FM.

Speaking of radio, does anyone else think that it’s the ultimate in chutzpah that Lite- FM (106.7) and Blink 102.7 are playing wall-to-wall Christmas music, 24/7, weeks before Dec. 25? In the world’s largest media market known for its cultural and ethnic diversity? WPLJ (95.5 FM) and WQCD (101.9 FM) are good alternatives. My wife, an avid Lite-FM listener, says she can’t even bear to listen to 106.7 while the onslaught continues.

As Post radio scribe John Mainelli reported a few weeks ago, the “All-Christmas Music, All the Time” format has been a ratings hit elsewhere – but I wonder if a few N.Y.-area radio dials aren’t being tuned elsewhere.

Last, but not least:

* “60 Minutes” notched its largest audience in almost two years last Sunday (19.1 million viewers).

* A bevy of stars, all toting unwrapped toys, will attend Motorola’s annual holiday party tomorrow in L.A. (Culver City). Pink will perform.

* “Oscar, Oscar, Oscar . . . ” Ch. 11’s “Odd Couple” marathon last Saturday averaged a robust 4.0 (292,000 hhs).
