THE BEST IS EVERYTHING
RELEASING a greatest hits album is as much a staple of the music biz as demanding a case of whiskey in the contract rider. And while some artists such as The Beatles or U2 have a massive amount of stellar material to funnel into a hits package, other artists jump the gun and release a “best of” while their catalog is a bit leaner. Ricky Martin just released his third (yes, third) hits compilation, even though most people would be hard-pressed to name a song of his besides “Livin’ La Vida Loca.” Christina Aguilera also just dropped a greatest hits package, even though she’s only pulling material from three albums.
Take a look at a few other acts and approximately what percentage of their output they deem a “greatest hit.”
