‘View’ for Vanzant could be TV Siberia

Buena Vista’s upcoming talk show hosted by motivational/inspirational author Iyanla Vanzant (“The StarrReport,” Oct. 23) could have a tough time finding a daytime slot when it debuts next fall on Ch. 7.

The show is a co-production of Buena Vista Television, Disney’s syndication division and ABC-owned stations, including Ch. 7. It’s being executive-produced by Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie, who’ve hit paydirt with “The View.”

Insiders say all entities agree that a show hosted by a motivational speaker will have a tough time finding a daytime audience – as did past shows hosted by the likes of Bertice Berry, Les Brown, Susan Powter and Jon Bradshaw.

So, “Iyanla” could wind up in major cities in TV’s netherworld – perhaps at 1:30 or 2:30 a.m.

But industry sources say the show will steer clear of “inspirational” elements – meaning a chance for a better timeslot.

“We are securing excellent time periods for ‘Iyanla,'” says a Buena Vista spokeswoman.

‘Titans’ spelling trouble for NBC

NBC’s move of Aaron Spelling’s “Titans” to Monday (from Wednesday) didn’t help the prime-time soap’s faltering numbers.

In its first airing in the 8-9 p.m. slot Monday night, “Titans” notched a weak 5.0 (roughly 5 million households) to finish fifth. That’s only slightly better than what the “Daddio”/”Tucker” combo was averaging before being canned.

“Dateline” didn’t help matters any by averaging only 6.7 million households (9-10 p.m.), but NBC saved face at 10 with “Third Watch” jumping up to 9.7 million viewers.

Was former ‘Law’star out of ‘Order’?

Ex-“Law & Order” star Michael Moriarty, who left the show in 1994, has been charged with assault after allegedly attacking his common-law wife in Canada.

Moriarty, 59, who played prosecutor Ben Stone, allegedly slapped Margaret Brychka across the face after the pair had been drinking in a Vancouver restaurant, according to The Vancouver Sun.

Moriarty was busted in 1997 for public intoxication but was never charged.
