It’s raining terry cloth.

Juicy Couture started the trend with the towel-like cloth a few years ago, and now stores like Express and Bloomingdale’s are picking up on it in a major way.

In Bloomies’ windows, models are wearing terry-cloth cargo pants, yoga outfits, tennis dresses and pleated skirts. And rap artists like Ice Cube and Missy Elliot can’t get enough of those terry-cloth Kangol hats (street vendors sell great knockoffs for $10).

“Terry cloth is more than just for the pool and working out,” says fashion stylist Alyssa Dineen.

“I have a terry-cloth miniskirt from Theory that I wear with flip-flops and a button-down shirt to go out to lunch, to go shopping, or out and about for work.”

“It’s so cute, and it’s easy to find cheap knockoffs [so] you don’t have to spend a fortune,” she says.

Another label turning out the look is So Low, which makes super low-waisted flare pants (available on girlshop.com). Fred Perry also makes soft, terry-inspired hoodies and shorts, and stores like Conway, Saks Fifth Avenue and Zara have a wide selection of terry-cloth goods.

And, of course, the athletic brand Puma features a line of terry-cloth duds, too – you can find them at Urban Outftters.
