‘$torage’ hole in one
A bidder on “Storage Wars” who paid $400 for the not-very-promising contents of an abandoned storage locker on the show came away with a huge haul — $24,000 in cash.
Sort of.
Each and every bill found in an old trunk had the face mysteriously cut out.
The hit A&E show is about a group of treasure hunters who bid — pretty much sight unseen — on the contents of those room-sized storage lockers when the owners stop paying their monthly rental fees.
Auctioneer Laura Dotson, who, with her husband, Dan, hosts the shows, says that the discovery came during a recent taping of the series, according to a report on the Web site TMZ.
It was not immediately clear why the former owner had clipped the faces off the bills.
But, theoretically at least, the bills are still good, and the US Treasury will have to exchange them for the uncut versions when they are presented at the bank.
All that’s required is that the serial numbers are intact, according to experts.
Dotson did not say when the episode might air. But a new series of “Storage Wars” is set to begin next week.
The show is one of A&E’s most popular, drawing more than 2 million viewers a week.
